When To Have A Baby Shower
Whenever a couple is expecting, there is much to plan and do before the big day arrives. However, one thing that is often overlooked is when to have a baby shower. Since there are so many products and other necessary items needed for your newborn, it is almost essential that you make time for a shower. Not only will this help you save a lot of money on products you would otherwise have to buy yourself, but it also is a chance for the expectant mother to be the center of attention.
When Should You Have A Baby Shower?
Traditionally most baby showers are held in the third trimester, as many expectant mothers are fearful of jinxing themselves by having a shower too early, then possibly having a miscarriage.
This also allows adequate time to determine the sex of the baby, if this is a decision that the expectant mother decides upon. When the sex is known, it will give the shower guests a much better idea of what to buy.
However, with people so busy and spread out from loved ones today, the biggest determining factor now is setting a date that is convenient for everyone, including both family and friends.
Even if these types of circumstances do exist for the expectant mother, it is still generally held that a baby shower should not be given until at least after the 20 week mark of her pregnancy.
Again, these are just traditional beliefs that are to be used as a guideline. In the end, it is ultimately up to the mother-to-be to decide when her baby shower should be held, even if it is earlier than 20 weeks.
