What Week Of Pregnancy Am I In?
I was hoping that you could tell me what week of pregnancy am I in? There is a lot of conflicting information out there.
It is only natural that you are confused about how to date your pregnancy. This is because the actual date of conception is rarely known and there are two different ways to try and determine how far along your pregnancy really is. The first way to do this is to calculate from the last day of your period and the second way is to use the last day of ovulation. However, it is important to understand that no matter which method you use, the due date will still be the same.
Since many women are much more aware of when their last menstrual period (LMP) was as opposed to when they stopped ovulating, the most common way to date a pregnancy is by calculating it with the LMP method.
Because the average pregnancy will last around 38 weeks from when you first conceived and conception is calculated from day 14 of your 28 day menstrual cycle, two weeks are added on to the LMP calculation, giving you a total of 40 weeks.
Another thing that is often confusing is when the first trimester ends and by using the LMP method your first trimester will end after 12 weeks.
