Vagina After Birth
I am a little concerned about my vagina after birth, because I have heard so many stories from other mothers who say it will never be the same again. Can you tell me if it will ever go back to being normal again?
This easily has to be one of the most common questions we receive every month, and it is completely understandable why this is of such great concern to so many women. There are all types of myths and other stories out there, but you have to keep in mind that each and every birth is completely different, just as all of our bodies are distinctly different as well.
Unless somebody is telling you something positive, you’re going to have to learn to close your ears to much of what you hear throughout your pregnancy. If someone tells you a horror story about their own pregnancy, you would be quite wise to ignore what you hear.
The Vagina After Childbirth
Perhaps you’ve heard this before, but the vagina is a wonderfully elastic organ that can be stretched much more than you could ever imagine. It is quite difficult for some women to grasp the concept that their vaginas can be stretched enough to allow for the birth of their babies, but yet return back to normal after childbirth.
However, in most cases your vagina will return to close to the original size within several weeks after giving birth.
While you may hear some women say that their vagina has been stretched too much to enjoy sexual intercourse, many in fact have reported that sex is now more pleasurable than ever. This is because these women have developed acute muscle awareness and control from training their bodies during pregnancy.
So yes, it is possible to enjoy sex more after giving birth, believe it or not!
Using Kegel Exercises To Tighten The Vagina
If you want to help speed up the process, don’t forget to do your Kegel exercises religiously. These exercises can be done just about anywhere: while you are in bed watching TV, in line while shopping or even while talking to your friends! They only take a few minutes and are very beneficial in helping to tighten your vaginal muscles.
While it is easier said than done, try not to worry about when your vagina will return to normal. In almost every case it is simply just a matter of time.
If you feel that your vagina is still too loose after 7 or 8 months from when you gave birth, you may then want to discuss this with your doctor.
