How Long Can Implantation Bleeding Last?
How long can implantation bleeding last?
In general implantation bleeding can occur a week or two after conception. It can last anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days.
The bleeding is caused by the embryo attaching itself to the lining of the uterus wall. Many women can confuse this bleeding with their period, but the bleeding should generally be very light spotting. Implantation bleeding should be either brown or pink, and not be heavy or bright red.
Keep in mind that not all women will experience spotting after conception has occurred. It is believed to only happen in about one out of every four pregnant women.
What Does Implantation Cramping Feel Like?
This type of cramping will be experienced differently from woman to woman. Some women may feel very subtle cramping that last for only a couple of hours, while others may experience sharper abdominal pains for a few days.
When Should I Be Concerned?
Implantation bleeding is natural and a positive sign that you may be pregnant. However, if you are experiencing heavy bleeding, you should contact your doctor immediately for further diagnosis.
