The fetal heart rate and gender prediction is one of those old wives tales that many people swear by. There are people that will tell you that this is an extremely accurate way to predict the sex of your baby, while others may tell you that it is a bunch of hogwash.

Basically, it’s believed that if your unborn baby has a heart rate over 145 beats per minute, it is going to be a girl. If it is under 145 beats per minute, then it most likely will be a boy (Keep in mind that a normal fetal heart rate is anywhere between 110 and 160 beats per minute)

I can tell you from experience that there are people I know who were able to predict the sex of their baby based on the fetal heart rate. I of course also know of people who were extremely disappointed when they found out that they were having the opposite sex of what they believed, based on the heart rate.

This is why I would strongly suggest that you don’t get your hopes up and rely solely on your baby’s heart rate, to predict the gender. In other words, don’t go out and buy all girls clothing and similar items simply because the heart rate of your unborn child is 155 BMP.

You’ll want to at least wait until you have confirmation from an ultrasound, which is more reliable. However, even an ultrasound is not totally fool-proof and a number of parents have been shocked because of this on delivery day!
