I was wondering if using colace during pregnancy will harm my baby or if it is something that I can actually use for my constipation?

In many cases a bout of constipation can be cured by using more natural methods, and using a laxative or stool softener should only be used when necessary.

Some natural ways to help your constipation whenever you are pregnant is to take a hard look at your diet. You will want to incorporate a lot of fruits and vegetables into your diet, along with more fiber. You can even try fiber pills or fiber powder such as Metamucil, which generally do the trick for most pregnant women and help relieve their constipation problems.

Also, a big key to having a healthy digestive system is to remain as active as possible. Even if you are able to only exercise for 15 or 20 minutes a day, this can go a long way towards keeping your digestive system healthy and reducing your constipation.

Is Colace Safe During Pregnancy?

If you have tried many of the natural methods above and are still constipated, you will find that many doctors will give you the go-ahead to take colace. But be sure to discuss this with your doctor first, just as you would with any type of stole softener or laxative that you plan on taking

It is important to note that you should avoid taking laxatives unless recommended by your doctor, as you can become dependent on most laxatives which can make your digestive system dependent upon them and cause intestinal cramping.
