Although there are times when pregnancy seems to be something that happens naturally for some people, it is actually not as straight cut for the majority as the chances of getting pregnant vary from couple to couple. Of course, if all is well with your health and you’re in your twenties, your chances of getting pregnant will be great. However, with other conditions thrown into the mix, your chances will drastically be reduced.

What are the chances of getting pregnant? There are certain scenarios that will improve your chances of getting pregnant; it just requires some diligence and attention to detail. After that, you’ll realize that you are truly in control of your chances for conceiving.

Take a look at some of the things you can do to increase your chances:

1. Stop smoking. Not only does smoking decrease sperm count in men and fertility in women, but it also puts you at the risk of conceiving a fetus with birth defects. Smoking is definitely a no-no for couples who have any intentions of getting pregnant. Try everything you can to stop smoking so you can increase your chances of getting pregnant. Apart from that, you’ll also preserve your health – that’s two victories in one!

2. The earlier, the better. As people age, their chances of getting pregnant are reduced. In your twenties, you’d be surprised at how easily you get pregnant! But as women approach 35 and pass it, their fertility rate decreases and continues along that path until they are no longer able to conceive. Once men get to 40, their sperm count starts to lessen rapidly. If possible, try to get pregnant early so your chances are improved.

3. Increase fertility. Women have tendencies to develop problems with ovulation that affect their fertility rate. A great way to increase fertility and improve your chances of getting pregnant is to maintain a diet rich in foods that are said to do just that. Your diet should include high-fiber foods, foods rich in monounsaturated fats and vegetable protein. What many women find is that such foods prevent issues with ovulation, and they are more likely to get pregnant.

In some cases, getting pregnant just will just not happen for couples. Whether there’s a medical reason or something else, some people will never be able to have kids. However, in other cases, by making the right moves and taking the right steps to increase your fertility, you should be able to increase your chances of getting pregnant.
