Baby Registry List
A favorite pastime of expectant parents, especially mothers, is putting together a baby registry list. Preparing that list gives them an opportunity to plan the needs for their baby so everything is in place by the time they are born. What you put on the baby registry also helps to determine if you’ll have an exciting baby shower!
If you’re ready to put together a list of items your baby will need, here’s a detailed look at what to put on a baby registry.
Diaper pail – perfect for temporary disposal of dirty diapers. Be sure to choose one that uses normal garbage bags so it’s kept hygienic.
Diapers - of course, you need these for your new baby! When requesting diapers, ask for some in different sizes as babies outgrow them in no time!
Diaper bag – this is perfect for carrying around all your baby essentials. Get one that you can sling across your shoulders when you’re moving about.
Pacifiers and mobiles – essential for young babies so they keep entertained and occupied.
Burp cloths – you’ll need a lot of these as you feed and burp your baby.
Baby wipes – perfect for both baby and parent because they are antibacterial and get rid of germs from your baby’s bum as well as your hands.
Breast pump – great tool if you plan on heading back to work right after giving birth.
Portable crib – this is perfect when you’re sleeping out with your baby.
Baby clothes – items you can ask for include onesies, pants, coveralls, sleeping gowns, mittens, sweaters, snowsuits, booties, socks and hats.
Receiving blankets – necessary so you can put your baby down on a clean surface whenever you need to change them or put them to sleep.
Bibs – necessary for feeding time so those cute baby outfits don’t get messed up!
Cleansing accessories – this category includes things like shampoo, lotion, nail clippers, nasal syringe and towels.
Standard crib and sheets – your baby will need a sleeping space to call his or her own.
Activity mat – great for when your baby can crawl around and get active on the floor.
Car seat – when your baby is old enough, you’ll need one of these by law.
Extras - other things you can ask for include diaper rash cream, bottles, bottle brushes, thermometer, mattress pads, nursing pads and a breastfeeding pillow.
Take into account the people who will be buying these gifts, as some baby items can get quite expensive. While there are many small baby items listed here, remember that even the costs of the small items can really add up. Also don’t be afraid to list more expensive items such as baby monitors and strollers if you think a shower guest may be willing to buy it.
You can also arrange to have parents or close family member/friends buy more expensive items such as the crib or car seat to help save you money on these big ticket items.
Finally you will find that you are going to end up spending a great deal of money on your baby, so never look a gift horse in the mouth, even if it is a small item!
