What should I be looking for in a baby bouncy seat?

These seats are ideal for helping to keep your baby calm and a great place to put him to stay amused. Like a baby swing, this is another must have item for all new parents. Let’s face it, you can’t keep your baby in the crib or swing all day, so you need to have another place to put him so he won’t become bored and fussy.

What Makes A Good Baby Bouncer Seat?

You will want to ensure that the seat is well constructed and the fabric is comfortable for your infant as well. Some of these bouncers are battery powered for the vibration features, but this will work wonders for some babies and bother others. So it isn’t a necessary option to be sure.

You will also want to find one that is portable and not oversized. This is because I guarantee you that you will want to take the bouncer with you on vacation or just to grandma and grandpa’s house to keep your baby happy. The ones that are too big can be a real hassle to fit into a regular sized car and aren’t exactly portable.

Finally, you want to look for a seat that has comfortable, but sturdy restraining straps. This is easily the most important feature and the one you need to focus on the most.

What Are Some Baby Bouncy Seats You Recommend?

Babybjörn BabySitter Balance – this is a high end bouncer that receives outstanding reviews, but it is on the high side at over $140. It has three positions including play, sleep and rest. It will help teach your baby how to balance herself, while using small movements to rock the chair. It is really an innovative product and something I can’t rave enough about!

Fisher Price Rainforest Bouncer – this is another bouncer that is high on many parents’ lists as it always receives overwhelmingly good ratings. This bouncer plays songs and has a light up waterfall. It also has a really cute monkey and a toucan to keep your baby visually stimulated. Best of all it won’t hurt your budget at only $45.

Bright Starts Comfort and Harmony Bouncer – this is another great bouncer that has a plush seat and plays 7 songs for your little infant. It also has a toy giraffe and lion that will help to hold her attention, especially during those especially fussy times (like when the bottle is warming!) This seat typically runs about $50.

Please remember that a baby in a bouncer still needs to be supervised and never, ever put the bouncer on a couch, chair or other elevated surface like many parents seem to do. This is not only dangerous, but irresponsible as well. Keep your baby on the floor and keep her safe!
